The first time you open a downloaded app file, Android will ask permission to install apps from whichever browser or file manager you used. That is normal, and it is how Android protects you: the permission is granted to that one app, not to the whole phone, and you can take it away again afterwards.
To remove it later, open Settings, then Apps, then the browser you used, then “Install unknown apps”, and turn it off. Nothing about Poyntr stops working when you do — it only means that browser can no longer start an install.
Samsung devices have a setting called Auto Blocker. When it is on it blocks apps installed from anywhere except the Play Store and the Galaxy Store — completely, with no per-app exception and no way for an app to ask. It is on by default on many recent Samsung phones, and if it is on, this download will not install.
To turn it off: Settings, then Security and privacy, then Auto Blocker, then switch “Block app installs from unauthorised sources” off. You can switch Auto Blocker back on once Poyntr is installed; updates from inside the app are not affected by it.
Android scans apps installed from outside the Play Store. Google Play Protect will check this app and may send information about it — the package name, version, and a fingerprint of the file — to Google, and on some devices the file itself. That happens on your phone, between Android and Google; Poyntr cannot switch it off and does not receive it. If Play Protect warns you about "an unknown app", that is what it means: Google has not seen this app before, because it is not distributed through the Play Store. Check the SHA-256 above matches your download before you install.
The adult app can fetch its own updates and will ask you before installing one; Android shows its own confirmation screen every time, and it accepts an update only if it is signed by the same certificate listed above.
The Student Den never installs anything by itself. A newer version is put on the device by whoever looks after it — from this page, or by the school.
